In line with ACSSU's goals and objective to promote education, we have established a new homework club in Hamilton, and soon in Toronto.  Our purpose is to teach, mentor, and direct our youth in the right direction to achieve both academic and personal success.

On Sunday May 30^th , ACSSU held its third lecture in its 2009-2010 lecture series at St Barsaumo Syriac Orthodox Church hall. Professor Philippa Carter from McMaster University gave the lecture on “Assyrians in the Bible.” Click for full report and pictures
 

Despite enduring a very bad weather, ACSSU came out and in full force, to be part of the first ever "United we Rock" concert for Human Rights. Click here for full report and pictures from this event which took place in downtown Toronto. 

Once again, our Assyrian Christian students in Iraq are the target of horrific and cowardly terrorist attacks, which has injured and killed more than one hundred students. ACSSU strongly condemns this bloodless attack and has issued a statement of solidarity...  Click here to read our statement.

On Nov. 29, ACSSU hosted a lecture presentation, to interview and honor the Assyrian soccer legend, Basil Gorgis. Basil is the first and only Assyrian player to make it to the world cup.

On October 10, ACSSU was present at the Ashur TV fundraiser dinner, with special guest Ashur TV director from Iraq, Sargon Lazar. Few days later, ACSSU committee met with Sargon Lazar again to discuss various matters relating to the channel and students' role in our nation. Click here for report and pictures

On September 18, ACSSU held its third lecture  in the 2009 Series with Professor Hannibal Travis, Associate Professor of Law at Florida International University.  His lecture discussed new laws affecting the Assyrians in Iraq with respect to three main categories; Election Laws, Cultural Property Law, and Refugees Law.
