On August 21^st, 2009 the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Student Union (ACSSU) of Canada celebrated its 10^th anniversary in the company of many of its members and supporters with a boat cruise. The Stella Borealis cruise ship took sail at 8:00pm off of the Toronto harbour with over 250 ACSSU members and supporters on board. The evening consisted of a delicious dinner, a slide show of photographs highlighting ACSSU’s past events and accomplishments, while enjoying Assyrian and English music mixed by DJ Sargon on the open roof-top dance floor. ACSSU’s President Lema Yousif and Vice President Mariam Georgis shared their words with the guests and thanked everyone for their continuous support.

We would like to thank all of our supporters who have participated in ACSSU events throughout the years. ACSSU is a non-profit student organization that strives to promote higher education within the Assyrian (also known as Chaldean and Syriac) community in Canada, as well as to raise awareness on our culture and heritage. We at ACSSU believe that students are the future of our nation, the key to our community’s success, and, through education, we can accomplish many goals that will benefit our nation. It is through the continuous support of the Assyrian community in Canada and other parts of the world that ACSSU has been motivated to continue its hard work and flourish as a student union.

ACSSU of Canada takes great pride in its social and educational events, including: annual graduation picnics, lecture series with keynote speakers, social events including bowling, Christmas dinners, skiing and ice skating. ACSSU strives to reach out to the Assyrian community by organizing these events, which educate and unite our people as well as raise awareness of our culture.

ACSSU would like to express a special thanks to all of its board members, past and present, who have selflessly contributed to the success of this student union. More specifically, ACSSU offers gratitude to all of its presidents who have contributed significantly toward ACSSU’s great achievements today.   ACSSU of Canada’s presidents are:
